The 6498 Memotron is a reliable, all-electrostatic five-inch bistable direct display storage tube,
designed to capture and retain complex electrical traces and transients which could otherwise only be analyzed and
studied through the comparatively low brightness CRT's and elaborate photographic procedures, or by total reliance
on the necessarily superior visual acumen of the observer. For comparison of successive wave forms, transients may
be superimposed one upon the other, or vertically "stacked". Displays occur at uniform brightness regardless of
writing speed. The brightness of the stored presentation is such that it can be viewed under conditions of high
ambient light, such as those encountered in well-lighted laboratories, and it remains stored until it is intentionally erased.
Typical applications are: plotting a family of curves; viewing transients from shock or vibration tests
and ballistics or missiles tests; monitoring phase relationships; electrocardiographic and vectorcardiographic diagnosis;
presentation of tube or transistor characteristics...
