• “KR” stands for “Kenotron rectifier”.
• For use in X-ray machines and similar devices (mass spectrograph, for example).
• For oil immersed operation.

The “Kenotron” series of rectifier was developed by Saul Dushman of GE beginning in 1914 with the KR-3.
