Senditron, Relay valve with external ignitor electrode
Tube relais avec électrode d'amorçage externe
Relaisröhre mit externer Zündelektrode
“Senditron” tubes were used to control current for welding systems.
They act as a switch able to carry very high currents.
Unlike the PHILIPS PL5, which has an auxiliary electrode and
where the ignition electrode extends down into the mercury pool and is insulated from it by a thin coating of
dielectric material, this model is ignited by a high voltage impulse applied to an external metal grid.
Likely made by PECO Welding Systems GmbH (now AMADA WELD TECH).
Thanks to H.-J. Stettler who donated this tube.
Thanks to Rüdiger Kurth for identifying this tube.
