EAW Relaistechnik GmbH is a German manufacturer of thermal controls and relays for electrical products and is headquartered in Berlin.

Such tubes were formerly used to measure high-frequency antenna currents. The principle is that 2 threads are stretched crosswise and touch in the middle. Nevertheless, there is an insulation between the two wires. A high-frequency current flows through a wire, which heats it up. The heat is transferred to the other wire and changes its resistance, which can then be measured with a normal instrument.
