KALOTRON was a trademark and brand of Thermosen, Inc., Stamford, Connecticut, USA.

For application in voltage stabilization or in special control circuits. Used in AC stabilization circuits of the power supply in some instruments, as in the heaters supply of the Tektronix 555 oscilloscope.

Also used as the regulating element in Sorensen and some Superior Electric Company A.C. line voltage regulators. The filament is designed in such a way that if it opened up it would short to the round cylindrical plate and the unit would shut down safely.
