| Westinghouse WL-787 Demonstration triode |
| The WL-787 tube was designed by Westinghouse as a classroom demonstration device in the late 1930's. Wherever electrons strike the coated plate, they cause brilliant green fluorescence. The bright area increases as the plate current increases. Electron flow is governed by varying the grid voltage. An external magnetic field could also be used to vary the patterns of light emitted from the plate.
