Philips Early 5" X-Ray Image Intensifier Tube
Ancien tube intensificateur d'image radiologique
Uralt Röntgenbildverstärker
Introduced in 1952, just a few months before Westinghouse introduced their own image intensifier
in America. Initially, the radiologist had to look directly at the small output screen, which often meant an awkward and
uncomfortable position. However, viewing became more comfortable at the end of the 1950s, when a television camera was
connected to the output screen of the image intensifier. This allowed several people to look at the X-ray image on the
monitor at the same time no matter how the image intensifier was positioned.
U.S. Patent 2,757,293 - Luminoscope, filed August 29, 1952.
