Western Electric 2N559 Germanium PNP Low Power Transistor
Transistor PNP au germanium
The 2N559 diffused-junction germanium PNP transistor was one of the first military-rated computer transistors to be made. Released in 1957, it is a rugged, highly reliable and miniaturized, high speed switching transistor, capable of operation in excess of 400 MHz.
The Remington Rand UNIVAC Target Intercept Computer (TIC) from 1960 used over 20,000 WE 2N559 transistors in it's logic circuits.
It was also selected for use in Nike Zeus anti-missile defense system.
