Silica valve designed by the Admiralty Signal School and used in early radar prototypes,
as the MB1 and MB2 designed at Bawdsey for the RAF in 1937 and in the GL1 and in the GL2 designed soon later.
The anode is made of a basket-weave of molybdenum ribbon.
