This tube contains a bundle of 10 metal rods, each surrounded by a glass sheath closed at one end. Five of these rods are wired together and connected to the left connector, and the other five, oriented in the other direction, are connected together to the right connector.
As the tube is designed to circulate air through it, it is possible that it was used for ozone production, the two connectors being connected to a high voltage source.
