“23” is handwritten on the bulb.

This tube was found in the stock of the SYLVANIA Emporium (Pennsylvania) plant when it was closed in 1991.

After Pearl Harbor in 1941, the Emporium plant switched almost wholly to war production and various ruggedized tube types were developed secretly for military applications, such as variable time proximity fuses. After WWII, the plant converted production to television picture tubes.
