Flying-Spot-Scanner Bildröhre
For Rank Cintel MK VIIIB flying spot scanner.
A flying spot scanner is a type of device used in early television technology to convert images into
electrical signals. It uses a rapidly moving light spot to scan a transparent film, capturing the visual information
pixel by pixel. A photomultiplier or photocell is used to capture the reflected light, producing a video signal;
when synchronized to the CRT raster, the video signal is a complete TV picture. Flying spot scanners played a critical
role in the development of television by enabling the transmission of moving images.
