			  The Platinotron (from Greek "platino" = make wider, expand, and "electron") is a radial
              M-type backward wave tube used in radars, in medicine (radiation therapy of oncological diseases), and in equipment
              for non-destructive testing. It is most commonly used as an amplifier and referred to as an amplitron.
              When supplied with additional devices for generation of positive feedback and operating as a generator, it is called
              a stabilotron. Desirable characteristics of the platinotron include: efficiencies of 50 to 70 per cent;
              high peak and average rf power outputs, electronic bandwidths of 10 per cent with nearly constant efficiency over
              the entire bandwidth, low-phase pushing figure, low operating voltage, nominal gain of 10 db over a ten per cent
              frequency range, and a simple, compact mechanical structure.
